High-Temperature Industrial Gas Duct - Germany
Arcus Engineering performed structural and connection analysis for an industrial gas duct in Germany designed to operate at a temperature of 220°C. The analysis focused on structural resistance, temperature-dependent material behaviour, thermal expansion and the functional movement of separate duct sections.
High operating temperatures can produce significant thermal expansion and deformation within industrial duct systems.
If these movements are not represented correctly in the numerical model, they can generate unrealistic internal forces or interfere with the required functional behaviour of the system.
The duct was therefore divided into sections separated by expansion provisions, with each section requiring individual numerical assessment.
Arcus Engineering created separate structural models for the expansion-separated duct sections.
The analysis considered:
Modelling the sections separately enabled thermal movements and structural responses to be assessed according to their specific support and expansion conditions.
Temperature-related deformations were evaluated in two principal directions.
This verification was important not only for structural resistance but also for confirming that the gas duct could accommodate the required movement under operating conditions.
Arcus Engineering provides finite element analysis, connection verification and temperature-dependent structural assessment for gas ducts, reservoirs and other industrial structures exposed to demanding operating conditions.
